In this blog post, we are covering How parents can use the whole child guide.
Your child is not defined by a single milestone or challenge. The whole child approach looks at development through multiple lenses. That includes development of all areas such as emotional, sensory, social, cognitive, behavioral, and physical. This model helps you:
- Understand your child’s behavior with more compassion
- Choose support that aligns with your child’s strengths, not just their struggles
- Build a team of people who honor your role as the expert on your child
How to support your child with the whole child guide
Whole Child Guide helps you find people who see your child fully, and support their growth with care and respect.
How to Use Whole Child Guide as a Parent
Whether your child has a diagnosis, is going through a rough patch, or just needs support with everyday routines, Whole Child Guide makes it easy to find the right fit.
Here’s how to get started:
1. Search by Need
As a parent, you know your child best. You are their biggest advocate! On The WHole HCid Guide, we wanted to create a tool to help you find the right help, and even resources that you might not be available near you. There may even be professionals that have specific certifications that can be the perfect fit for your child. We wanted to add a resource where you can filter through professionals all over the country based on filters.
Use filters to explore providers based on what you’re looking for:
- Sensory processing
- Speech and language
- Emotional regulation
- Play-based therapy
- Motor skills, learning support, behavior, and more
You can also browse by therapy type, enrichment programs, or digital resources.
2. Filter by Location + License
If you’re looking for therapy services, filter by state to find licensed professionals who can legally treat your child in your state, even if sessions are online. This ensures you’re getting support that’s both effective and compliant.
The thing is that some professionals have certain certifications or specialties. An occupational therapist near you might have experience in feeding but another may not. Having this ability to filter by your location is a huge asset you have in your pocket as a parent.
3. Explore Digital Resources and Printables
Need a visual schedule? Sensory toolkit? Printable handwriting games?
Whole Child Guide also features trusted content creators, so you can access downloadable tools designed by professionals who understand how kids learn and grow.
The thing is that there are millions of resources available online. We wanted to help you find the things you need.
4. Reach Out and Build Your Team
Read provider bios to see who feels like a good match. Many professionals offer discovery calls so you can ask questions and make sure it’s the right fit, because connection matters just as much as credentials.
We wanted to help you put together the right team that can best support your child’s specific needs. Maybe that looks like a feeding therapy session, a handful of parent coaching that touches on the family and household, and some printable schedules. Every child will be different and we want to connect all of those dots.
Find the Support Your Child Needs
One of the coolest tools that we have on The Whole Child Guide is our support app.
This support app helps you to find specific support for your child’s needs. You can type your concerns right into the toolbar and get as detailed as you like. You can write in your concerns about development, behavior, learning, or other areas. Our tool will then generate suggestions which you can filter by location or you can sort through. It’s a really novel way to find the support services your child may need, and it can offer suggestions that you might not even realize are out there!
You can get access to this tool when you Subscribe to the Whole Child Guide.
You Know Your Child Best
That’s why the Whole Child Guide was created…to give you the tools to build a support system that reflects your child’s strengths, your values, and your goals. You shouldn’t have to scroll endlessly, join random forums, or hope that a provider is “good enough.” You deserve a tool that helps you feel confident and empowered as a parent.
