North Brookfield, MA Occupational Therapy Assistant

I am in my third year of being a public school based occupational therapy assistant. The majority of the students I work with on a daily basis have been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder along with sensory, emotional and intellectual comorbidities. Previous to becoming a COTA, I worked as a paraprofessional, also in a school setting, also with children diagnosed with ASD, but with a wider range of ages and severity, as well as physical disabilities.
The settings and children may have been different but the goal was the same, to help the student become as independent as possible, not only in school, but in all aspects of life, while at the same time focusing on what is meaningful and important to them as individuals.
